We are a cross-cultural, bilingual, blended family of five.  Maria and I met on a plane from Guatemala City to Dallas.  We talked the whole flight and then more at the airport when we discovered we had the exact same gate for our connection flights.  We exchanged our information and two weeks later, Maria picked me up from the airport in Guatemala City.  The rest was history.  Over the course of that year, I began to know her daughters: Majo, Naty, and Sofy as well.  Majo, 11, is a positive young lady who likes to be crazy, enjoys life, and shows amazing patience with her younger sisters.  Naty, 5, loves to be the leader, teaching others, and to be read stories.  Sofy, 4, is a shy but sweet little girl who likes to show her affection for those she cares about.  We are excited for the opportunity to serve God together and for the adventures ahead!

A Man on the Move:

As a shy and awkward boy I moved all around the country with my parents and sister, making seven out of state moves in the first fifteen years of my life.  As a more confident but still awkward adult, I keep on moving. After high school, I went across the country to the University of Washington.  I graduated as soon as possible so I could spend eight months traveling through Latin America.  I returned to Seattle and began coaching swimming and in the most stable period of my life, I spent five straight years entrenching myself in the swimming community there (taking obligatory cross country road trips through the USA and Canada and Kauai backpacking adventures of course).  Then in 2012, I was off to Guatemala for three months to the indigenous town of Cotzal.  I bounced back and forth between Seattle and Cotzal for a few years, in the mean time meeting my fiancee on a plane (and later proposing to her at an airport).  It occurred to me recently that I have not had any sort of stable living situation for two years.  Now, I will be calling Guatemala City home.

I grew up in a Christian family and I accepted Christ in the 3rd grade, starting my prayer with: "Jesus, I really, really want to go to heaven."  It was not until college however, that I really began to think seriously about my faith in Jesus.  I had an influential roommate who told me to read "The Case for Christ," and also persuaded me to attend a Christian Apologetic course.  It was this book and this course that helped me to realize that I could trust the truth in the gospel accounts.  In 2005, I went on two short term mission trips to Guatemala that really deepened my faith.  Going out of one's comfort zone, spending an entire week focused only on loving others and serving Jesus, and spending each morning with other believers in devotion time will really light a fire under a person.  I remember at the end of my second mission trip that year, just feeling an overwhelming feeling of love for the people I was serving, feeling like I could die for them.  It was the Spirit moving inside me in a way I had never experienced before.  On the last day, we hiked up to a cross on a hill overlooking Antigua and I prayed and felt such an overwhelming feeling of peace.  It wasn't for another few years though that I made a practice of reading the Bible.  I began to understand more and more the significance of what Jesus did for me.  When I felt God working in my heart the idea to become a missionary, Guatemala was the obvious choice.  In this period of my life, I feel like God is teaching me how to truly die to my selfishness and to love unconditionally.

My Passions:
I love adventures!  Traveling, hiking, or simply doing something crazy and not knowing what will happen.  I love to be active.  I have a passion for teaching and leading others.

Mi Historia:
Nací en la Ciudad de Guatemala hace algunos años atrás (jeje)  Mi familia consiste de mi mamá y mi hermana 13 años menor que yo. A muy temprana edad tuve a mi primer muñeca Majo, luego Naty y Sofy.

Me dedico a diseñar y confeccionar vestidos de novia y vestidos para eventos especiales, desde muy pequeña mi sueño fue ser una gran diseñadora de modas, me encanta crear, admiro mucho el arte y el diseño.

Tuve una niñez difícil, muy diferente a lo “normal”, mi adolescencia fue aún más difícil , Actuando con enojo por lo sufrido en mi niñez y a la vez con miedos y muy insegura de mi misma.

Mi Testimonio: 
En Febrero de 2013 hice un viaje hacia Dallas, y al lado mío se sentó un joven Americano muy bien parecido que me llamo la atención ( Jordan) y luego... BAM!  Empezamos a hablar, compartimos un poco de nuestras vidas, fue algo que no puedo explicar tuvimos una química increíble, tanto que sentí que ya lo conocía desde hace muchos años atrás, luego me enseño un pasaje de su biblia que él estaba estudiando ese día:

“Bienaventurados los pobres en espíritu, porque de ellos es el reino de los cielos”  (Mateo 5:3)

Solo puedo decir que en ese exacto momento comencé a llorar (con un extraño que había conocido hace una hora)!  Pero sentí

Que Dios me invito a un nuevo nivel de intimidad con Él

A partir de ese momento, he estudiado la Biblia, pude perdonar a las personas que me hicieron daño en el pasado, he podido dejar atrás el sufrimiento y la tristeza.  Me siento una persona nueva! Entendí el significado de amar al prójimo como a ti mismo, a no vivir con rencores, a pasar la página, y que el Señor me ama y ha tenido misericordia de mí! Conocer a la familia de Jordan ha sido una de las mejores experiencias en mi vida. El amor, el apoyo incondicional que se tienen unos a los otros como familia, y lo que más admiro de ellos es su dedicación hacia Dios y su don de servicio en el nombre de Él.

Al visitar por primera vez San Juan Cotzal Quiché, me enamoré nunca había viajado hacia esa región de Guatemala, al conocer a Jordan sentí mucha curiosidad acerca de su trabajo como misionero aquí.  Me fui involucrando poco a poco en su trabajo, conociendo las diferentes historias, algunas tristes, algunas muy bonitas de las personas de Cotzal, pero lo que más me impresiono es la Fé en Dios que algúnas de las personas en ese pueblo tienen . A lo largo de este tiempo hemos cultivado muy bonitas amistades que me han enseñado bastante.
